Charles E. Galyon, Ph.D., HSP, CBIT Certified Shannon Floyd, OTR/L
Description

Many individuals with Tic Disorders, especially those with co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, ADD, and OCD, experience executive dysfunction. Research indicates that some of the most common executive functioning difficulties in people with Tic Disorders are related to working memory, attention, and cognitive flexibility. Prolonged executive functioning difficulties throughout a person’s life span can result in increased frequency and intensity of tic symptoms, depression and anxiety. During this presentation, listeners will be educated on the various skills that encompass one's executive functioning skill set and how executive dysfunction manifests in children, adolescents, and adults (with and without tic symptoms). Listeners will be given practical strategies to aid in improving executive function and provided education on various resources such as “Smart but Scattered.”
